Tasmanian Oak
Matte Finish

Back in the '60s there were some amazing glues being splashed around. They were that good in fact that they didn't even need to put down an underlay, like, say, Masonite. Nope. They just stuck the Lino straight to the floor boards
The cool thing for me is my Dad was one of the floor men way back then who did that kind of work - so, who knows, he may have laid the floor coverings in this home and I've sanded off the remnants some 50 odd years later
Now, getting glue off floor boards is a pain of a job. In fact, a lot of guys won't even attempt it
Luckily, I have a bag of tricks up my sleeve, so it's not something I'm afraid of
The left over glue from the lino
Taking care of the glue with some heavy duty sanding
We use kerosene to help with removing the old glue
Sanding off the glue from around the edges
Rolling out our polyurethane finish
The entrance way is now beautiful with wet finish
The matte polyurethane is now dry
Older floors and modern kitchens work so well together
The entranceway is now spot-on
The glue, over the years has protected the boards, to the point they look brand new
50 year old Tasmanian Oak is as nice as any timber out there in the marketplace
The flatness of this matte finish is top class
This is a very hard-wearing polyurethane finish
Just a perfect floor for a kitchen
I absolutely love this Tasmanian Oak floor
