This one will test your sanding skills
Brushbox can do many a decent floor sander's head in. It wants to be all scratchy and horrible, and difficult to get along with.
Because it's such a high-density timber the sandpaper digs in and leaves lines and deep marks from the machines... if you're not careful.
I will admit it took us a few jobs of working with Brushbox to get to the stage where we can confidently sand it and leave it with our usual superfine finish which we enjoy with other timber species.
I'm so glad that we now can sand it brilliantly, as it's one of our most outstanding flooring timbers. The excellent fiddleback grain and twists and turns of colour make it an absolute knockout, and a gorgeous backdrop to whatever furnishing tastes you have in mind.

Sadly, for these wonderful homeowners this floor was sanded and finished horribly in the past... and they lived on it for years not really knowing any different. Until one day, a mutual builder friend called in took one look and said "You need to get these floors re-done, and these are the people to do it for you" - that was Lisa and I.
