In the first few pictures you'll notice that the floor is shiny. This is because we initially use a gloss finish as our base coat before applying the lower sheen finishes like matte and satin

The gloss gives us a stronger build and creates a flatter finish overall for when the matte is applied. There's some serious science behind why it's the best way to finish a floor, but I won't bore you with those sorts of details.

With these few close up pictures it's easy to see just how finely the Blackbutt can be sanded. It's one of those timbers where, as a tradesman I don't feel like I have to strain and push to get an outstanding result

We just merely let the machines and the sandpaper do their thing, fully confident that it'll all turn out stunning. No one needs to struggle
