Radiata Pine - Oak Stain

Feast Watson Oak Stain

Handley Lo-Sheen Protection

Blackburn North, VIC

A top quality Radiata Pine floor, such as this example in Blackburn, can be a pleasure to live on

The floors hadn't been touched for around twenty years and with the help of  large, boisterous dog had some pretty serious scratches in it. Our job, of course was to firstly get it back to square one then once superfine sanded, apply a full-strength Oak stain from Feast Watson followed up with Handley Lo-Sheen Polyurethane for maximum protection and a beautiful matte sheen

I must say this job took a lot of sanding to get the old, baked on finish off, and then get passed the dog claw marks throughout - but I got there in the end.

The stain was applied by hand with a wet rag and wiped off with a dry rag. This gave  me the most control of the depth of colour and the evenness of the stain right across the entire floor. The finishing coats were rolled on with a foam roller for that gorgeous blemish free finish

The Feast Watson stain range comes in a variety of shades and the Oak was the perfect choice here to tie in with the rest of the home

These boards hadn't been sanded for over 20 years.

The floors featured some amazingly savage scratches from a dog.

The dogs claws have done a number on this floor.

All fine sanded and the staining begins.

That's a long run of staining work.

All the staining starting to take shape now.

Once the stain dries it takes on a very dull, lifeless appearance

Such a rich, deep colour on the floor.

Knots in the Pine also look fantastic stained.

The Oak stain has totally transformed the Pine.

Each board stands out, yet it all blends in.

Check out that stunning grain.

An absolutely stunning example of just how nice Radiata Pine can look  - done right

This timber grabs the stain as good as anything else out there and transforms it into something spectacular
