This Radiata Pine floor in Pearcedale was as rough and rugged as any Pine floor we've seen before.
The boards had never been sanded in the entire time they'd been down. They also had never been covered with carpet or tiles in that timeframe either.
So, for 50 odd years they had been lived on raw - which is astonishing.
With them being walked on and subject to various degrees of moisture over the years, including dog urine, water from outside and from the bathroom and kitchen saw the boards horribly cupped and as tough as old leather to sand.
Still, once we got it sanded we were rewarded with some absolutely stunning grain and a depth of colour not often found in these boards. To finish it off and to give the boards maximum protection we used a very durable matte finish to showoff the grain and colour tone.
Definitely a floor to be proud of.
