Tasmanian Oak Floor

Handley Lo-Sheen Protection

Seaford, VIC

This Tasmanian Oak floor in sunny, downtown Seaford is typical of a lot of the floor work we perform. The floor had originally been finished with a water-based coating which hadn't lived up to the expectations the owners were led to believe. Sadly, it's an all too common occurrence.

The coatings had yellowed off to sort of resemble the colour of custard found in a vanilla slice.

The surface proved to be hard to clean and scratched way too easily. To compound all this, the older family dog had a couple of 'accidents' on the floor and despite the water-based finish the dog urine passed straight on through, staining the boards in the process.

The pics below give some idea of what we were up against when we first walked in....and how it looked as we finished off

Old, scratched, custard-yellow water-based finish

The dog urine had seeped right through the water-based finish. leaving a stain

Rolling on the new proper polyurethane

Polyurethane being applied to the Tasmanian Oak floor

The dry polyurethane shows of the grain perfectly

I love how the wall colour here works so well with the flooring

Handley Lo-Sheen polyurethane is the finish used here

Some of the finest Tasmanian Oak boards I've ever had the pleasure of working with

Top quality Tasmanian Oak flooring is pretty special

Select grade Tasmanian Oak

is such a pleasure to sand and polish

The polyurethane used here is much harder wearing than the original water-based product

A nice bit of floor sanding

Such a knock out board with that gnarly grain

This floor was an absolute pleasure to work on, and full credit goes to the builder who originally did such a great job of affixing the boards to the concrete slab initially

He gets a thumbs up from me
