SPOTTED GUM FLOOR

Handley Matt Protection

Parkdale, VIC

A classic example of a Spotted Gum re-sand. The floor was last done 18 years ago when the house was first built, so it was time for a do-over.

My first task was to remove all the old finish, and get the floor all flat 'n' smooth ready for the finishing coats to be applied.

Sometimes I sand with the grain. Sometimes on a 45 degree angle...other times it's straight across the grain. It all depends on the job that I'm doing.

With these sorts of Spotted Gum Floors I mostly go with the grain.

Setting up to sand the edges with my Taifun Edger - by far the coolest edging machine I've ever used.

Making some serious progress, with a lot of the old polyurethane now sanded off.

The Matt finish over the Spotted Gum really allows the rest of the room to pop
